Christmas in Crested Butte – travel guide

February 26, 2021

Christmas 2020 was one for the books. Hands down the best Christmas Kyle and I have had married and it was quite possibly my favorite Christmas EVER! It was our first Christmas as a family of four and we spent it in a cute little cabin in Crested Butte, Colorado. If I had an endless amount of money, I would have purchased a home while we were there. I loved the town that much! Plenty of cute little shops, really great places to eat and overall the town just had a really happy “vibe” to it. I put this travel guide together in hopes someone visiting Crested Butte would find this helpful and I also wanted to have the memories forever on my blog. Enjoy!

WHERE WE ATE: Our original plan was to make all of our meals at the cabin and maybe get something here and there while we were out. Being a little ski town during the winter months, everything there is expensive. We spent over $150 for a few days worth of food at the little grocery store and we honestly ended up eating out most of the time. Here are the places we went, what we ordered and what we though of them!

Butte Bagels – This might be my favorite place we ate at in Crested Butte. 10/10 would recommend, it was out of this world! We ordered Brayden the cinnamon roll, we all loved it. Kyle and I both ordered the East Coaster but we had them add homemade chive and onion cream cheese. I’m going to take total credit for this creation – just trust me, order it!

Secret Stash – Oh man, you guys… this place was so freaking good. We ordered the garlic bread appetizer, The Hamptons pizza, and a single slice of cheese pizza for our 2 year old. It might have been the best pizza I’ve ever had, it was that good! 10/10 – don’t sleep on this place!

Ryce Asian Bistro – I’m just going to start off by saying this was the most expensive Asian food I’ve ever had. Personally, this isn’t my favorite type of food but my husband grew up having it every year on Christmas Eve so we decided to keep that tradition this year. He really enjoyed the meal, I thought it was just alright.

Bonez – I’m sad to say this place was such a let down for us. Which was surprising because it had pretty good ratings online. But it was super expensive and the food was mediocre at best. I will say though, one of my husbands friends ate here almost everyday when he was in town and loved it!

Camp 4 Coffee – From the reviews I read online, this seemed to be a pretty popular place. We stopped here for coffee and hot cocoa to warm up one morning. It wasn’t anything special, but we would go there again!

Niky’s Mini Donuts – If you ever travel to Crested Butte, you need to stop here! Niky’s is a really cute, retro style little shop with homemade mini donuts, ice cream and a wall full of candy. Every kid (and adults) dream!

Paradise Cafe – Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day and this place did not disappoint! We had everything from their biscuits & gravy, corn beef hash & the potato’s paradise. Highly recommend!

Sledding – Right next to the Crested Butte Nordic Center is a very well kept hill for sledding, suitable for all ages to enjoy! We enjoyed this so much and if the kids were a couple years older I’m sure we would have spent all day here.

Shopping – Don’t forge to to check out all the fun and unique shops Crested Butte has to offer! They have everything from tourist type shops, boutiques, sweet shops and toy stores for your kiddos.

I found The Private Guest Cottage listed on airbnb and it was the best find! I HIGHLY recommend looking into staying here or the other cabin our host, Sasa, has to offer. She was the kindest soul and the most welcoming host. She went above and beyond to make our stay during Christmas feel like home. We were greeted with a small decorated Christmas tree, a beautiful flower arrangement, gifts for our 2 boys, a gift card to her favorite tea shop, jerky from her store, and some locally made liquor. I just cant recommend stayed at her properties enough!

If you’ve ever been to Crested Butte, comment down below any suggestions you have for anyone visiting. I know we will we back! And if you end up vacationing in Crested Butte and try a spot I recommended, let me know what you think! I also have a highlight saved on my Instagram from our trip to Crested Butte, if you want to check that out as well!
